Sorry guys, have not yet worked out how to respond to comments.
I came across this article on Steve Powderly's Facebook page. It contained a photo of an old friend, Greg Hill.
May 12, 1966
Greg 'Bear' Hill, Twig, Del Turner were putting together a band. My boyfriend, Graham Richards was to play 12 string.
Graham did not turn up to meet the boys, that night for practice, nor did he come home.
As far as we can ascertain he made his way to the pub on the corner of Miller and Berry Street; twelve schooners later he left the hotel. According to a Miss Pat Conway she heard footsteps running, many footsteps followed. A group of youths chased him along Berry Street; he chose to take refuge in a passageway beside a block of flats. Unfortunately, he fell against an area covered with vines. Behind this foliage was a sheer drop of twenty feet, he fell to his death.
I do not recall if Greg came to the Funeral. Last time I saw him, was one Sunday afternoon at Rhubarbs, he mentioned that he was playing in a band.
If anyone has any information on Greg or Twig, please contact me. Greg hearkened from Wagga and was affectionately known as 'Greg Bear'.
UPDATE: I have located John 'Twig' Twigden on Myspace, thanks to Robbie Souter. I have been informed that Greg 'Bear' Hill and Leigh "Bear' Burns are no longer with us.
